By Lynn Byrne. Denise found these. They are prints of papercuts by Angie Pickman of Rural Pearl on Etsy.
She especially digs these two.
I also can’t help but smile at this cityscape of NYC. Looks like a couple of Mary Poppins went AWOL!

By Lynn Byrne. A while back I said I was dying to make art the centerpiece of a kid’s room. Well I got my chance.
I am helping out with creating a new baby boy nursery. Palette is white, gray and black! The homeowner wants to work with the existing rug which is a dark charcoal with some purple, light gray and white flecks in it. She purchased a small gray sheepskin rug to lay on top (which looks great).
The room demands a flush mount ceiling fixture and we like this sputnik model from LampLust.
We are doing this bedding from Dwell Studio.
Walls will be pale gray. I love this graphic fabric from Thomas Paul for Duralee for the roman shades.
And now for the art. I think it needs a bright pop of color.
My first choice is this abstract print from 20×200. Lots of images of suns. Adore orange and gray as a color combo. And it has a hint of purple. I hope the homeowner likes it as much as I do.
Almost (I said almost) makes me want to have my own baby!
By Lynn Byrne. Admittedly there is not going to be much heavy lifting in the blog post writing department for me this week, but I may find the energy to get out and do this!
I will be back in full force after the New Year. Stay warm and cozy!

By Lynn Byrne. The day after Christmas is simply bliss, especially today with the snow falling heavily here in the NYC area. Yesterday was a wonderful celebration at my home.
For Christmas, I play up the Victorian in my tabletop to pay homage to the architectural style of my house. Those are my boys out front. The blow ups were their idea. They came home with them when we sent them out for large garbage bags on Christmas Eve day! Our new young neighbors (ages 6 and 7) were reassured because they felt certain that Santa would find them in their new house with a 12 foot likeness right next door.
But back to the table. I use my heirloom sterling silver plus my collection of Friendly Village plates that showcase different scenes from a Victorian Christmas. I scored mine on Ebay some years ago. I think they are charming. Here is one.
The burlap runner is from Pottery Barn. Layered on top are 2 snowflake runners snagged right after Thanksgiving at Target. The pewter metallic placemats are by David Stark for West Elm.
Back to plowing through my large stack of new design books! Enjoy today everyone.
By Lynn Byrne. Check out this guy! He grew that mustache to 18 inches and tied it around his cheeks to the back of his head. Looks like a total nut, no?
He also is credited as being one of America’s earliest art potters (wonder how he and Jonathan Adler would get along?)
Who is he? His name is George Ohr.
Ohr’s pottery is noted for its thin, porcelain like walls (it is made from clay local to Mississippi), pinched shapes and wonderful glazes. He was very prolific. There are several pieces available for sale right now on Ebay. Click here to read a great article on how to identify his work from fakes.
Last week, assistant curator at the Met, Adrienne Spinozzi, gave me and some others a lovely tour around the ceramics mezzanine of the New American Wing, which houses a grouping of Ohr pottery.
The stuff looks very modern. Hard to believe he was creating it in the early 1900′s.
I had never seen work by Ohr before and I LOVE learning something new! I was fascinated by the shapes and colors. Let me know if you agree.
Note the thin walls of these pots.
Cool spout on this teapot.
Love the flower shape of this vase’s opening.
A classic urn shape, Ohr style.
Smithsonian.com has done a great, comprehensive article on George Ohr. Click here to read it.

By Lynn Byrne. Is some new Twitter followers! I tweet about all sorts of things including new products, fashion, recipes, my travels in NYC and elsewhere and my daily adventures.
To follow me on twitter just go to the lower right hand column of my home page and click on the twitter button. I would really love it.
BTW, photo above is what is under my tree right at this very moment.

I adore everything about this chandelier by Sescolite (a new-to-me lighting source): the textured shade, the lyrical “branches”—I am tempted to switch out my period lighting over our breakfast table for it. It would look great paired with my all time favorite floor lamp below from Vaughan. (Lucky me, I already own that!)
By Lynn Byrne. Love this photo of the Montauk lighthouse dressed for the holidays. (Thank you to my wonderful contractor, Toby Logue for the snap).
Got me thinking that maybe someday I will spend Christmas out there. I am all inspired to do a beachy holiday decorating blitz.
A beach themed Christmas tree could be fun.
I found these cute starfish ornaments at islandchristmasshop.com.
Wisteria has an entire Coastal Christmas collection, seen below.
Love these gorgeous glass shell ornaments from them.
Their blue glass fishing balls would add a bit of color.
For some more nature, I would go with their turban shell ornaments.
For my tabletop, I love Wisteria’s coral votive tree. You could really use this puppy year ’round.
To let everyone know where I was spending the holidays, I could send out this charming holiday card found on Etsy by Citrus Tree.
Santa could fill these stockings from Personalized Presents.
And Walmart has the perfect wreath.
My only hesitation is that, since Montauk is right here in New York where it can be cold and snowy in December, my 3 boys might decide to do this.
No that is not them. But believe me, it could be.

Ok those gorgeous flowers actually were a surprise from Larry, who has been abroad all month.
Plus to help this overworked blogista, Larry has taken on the role of cub blog reporter. He found this great link from Hamptons.com to a post on the Holiday Showhouse at Old Westbury Gardens. Click here to see more.
We miss you too Larry. ♥
