July 15, 2010: COLOR THEORY: Turquoise

In Color, Turquoise on July 15, 2010 at 1:00 am

By Lynn Byrne. Since turquoise has been named the Pantone color of the year for interiors and fashion, most bloggers have done their turquoise post.  Not me.  I waited a bit to see how turquoise was being used.*What I am seeing are images with the YOWSA factor.  Turquoise is often paired with some other vibrant color, like orange or hot pink.  On the techie, color theory side folks, that is called combining shades with a similar chroma.  Throwing in some graphic black and white also is a common thread.

*Note: some of these images were taken before the Pantone announcement but they are included here because they illustrate well the trend that I see.

Nice to here from you. Did you click over to Apartment Therapy with my comment link. Someone actually applied red polka dot stickers ALL over the bathroom and I mean everywhere!! As for the rooms above, my take on most of them is that in a year or so, the paint cans will be out. Unless of course, the room is in a rarely used second house…..Best, Lynn
